PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA

Ideally situated in the center of Hampton Roads, Portsmouth is the perfect home base from which to enjoy a memorable vacation.

Over 250 years old, the city is a true historical gem with stories and architecture dating back to the American Revolution and earlier. More recently, Portsmouth has undergone numerous changes that has given it a renewed vitality.

One visit to Portsmouth, Virginia and you’ll be hooked. Amble along the famous Seawall. Stroll through three centuries of historic neighborhoods. Go antiquing. Take in some art. Stand inside a giant soap bubble at the largest children’s museum in the state. And Portsmouth is home to some of the most delightful restaurants in the region!  Many of Portsmouth’s attractions are clustered within easy walking distance of each other, making it the perfect place to spend a day. And with its central location, it’s easy to get to – just a quick ferry ride from downtown Norfolk, and just minutes from Virginia Beach and Colonial Williamsburg.

If you're lucky, you'll get to see an air craft carrier cruising
up the Elizabeth River to the Naval Base in Norfolk.

Norfolk, Virginia is a quick ferry ride across the Elizabeth River.

My middle son, Jason, and his family live in Portsmouth and I have been there many times.  If you like good restaurants, beautiful river views, antique stores, challenging golf courses and a fun night life - you must try PORTSMOUTH!
